This is an interpretation by the Castlemaine artist, Rhyll Plant, of the Diggers' Banner which flew at a monster meeting in Bendigo on 13 August 1853. It was designed by William Dexter, and featured the mining implements of a pick, shovel and cradle, along with the scales of justice. It also featured a bundle of sticks, a Roman symbol for unity and Australian native animals.
