    Details

Swifts Creek, VIC

Alluvial mining began on the Swifts Creek Goldfield, mainly around the junction of Swifts Creek and Grays Creek, in 1854. There was a rush to the area in 1858. From about 1865, large parties of Chinese miners were predominant on the site. Mining operations have continued intermittently on the Swift’s Creek goldfield up to the present day.
