    Where is Hill End located?
    Details

Hill End, NSW

Although earlier finds had occurred (some of which were documented), the major discovery of gold at Hill End was in 1851. Within weeks other gold towns emerged around the original field of Ophir – for example, Tambaroora near Hill End, and the neighbouring town of Bald Hill (later known as Forbes). Today the rich mining heritage and cultural history of the early stages of the gold rush era can be seen at Hill End.
