- Occupation
- Digger and Shopkeeper
Henry Leversha arrived on the Mount Alexander diggings in the second week of September 1851, at the formative stage of the gold rushes to the district, and was one of the original prospectors in the region. Leversha was a colourful character whose reminiscences of the early years of the rushes provide valuable insights into life on the diggings. He was also a storekeeper and sometime sly-grog shop owner who subsequently became an early member of the Castlemaine Pioneers and Old Residents Association.
