    Where is Yam Creek located?
    Details

Yam Creek, NT

Situated south of Darwin, Yam Creek was originally a sheep station. The discovery of gold on the property led to it being recognised as a bona fide goldfield. Historically, Yam Creek is interesting because the mines were floated on the Adelaide stock exchange. This led to the unusual situation where the overland telegraph office became the busiest place on the field at the peak of company flotation.
